Disposition:
Knowledgeable; One of Zhongli’s most defining attributes is his knowledge in all things. His thousands of years of life have shown him the past and the present of Liyue to such an extent that most say he is walking history. That knowledge and that remembrance does not come without a price, however. The countless wars he has fought through has left their mark on him in more than just with his exuberant knowledge. His knowledge and extremely good memory are also his downfall as he is one of the only remaining original Archon’s left. Leaving just him and Venti as the two who remember the Archon war and all its bloodshed.
Stoic; This is where his stoicism comes in. On the surface Zhongli puts up a very good front as a mortal human, however he did not earn his title and history as being a fearsome god of war for nothing. While in the present form of a human Zhongli’s perchance of inflicting the ‘wrath of the rock’ upon anyone is very low, when it comes to discipling or enforcing upon those who have broken a contract with him, he is decidedly to the point with his punishments. This often makes him come across as cold-hearted or stoic. Archons put themselves at a distance from humans and it would not be wrong to say that his years fighting in the Archon war made him cold and detached when it comes to doling out punishment and making hard choices. But it is wrong to say that he looks down upon humans, in fact he finds them rather fascinating. He cares for the people of Liyue and it shows with how long and devoted Zhongli has been to his people. Enforcing the rules and being a stickler for them just comes as his position as the God of Contracts and this makes him seem emotionally detached a lot of the time.
Absent-minded; Despite all his knowledge and extravagant words, Zhongli is also a bit…absent-minded, especially when it comes to mora. It is not because he is dumb or anything simple like that, it all goes back to him being a god and not exactly having a need for mora. This is because he is the one who created it, literally, his Gnosis allows him to make mora unendingly and without any sort of hamper to himself. But he still forgets, and he still does not remember to use it, when he does buy outrageously priced items often having to seek the payments through the funeral parlor or Childe. This all stems from the fact that Zhongli is old, very old, and set in his ways and principles and he never had a reason to think like a human before, despite his incognito form of being one. Basically, he is bad at knowing how to human and it often makes him come off as being dumb, but he really isn’t.
Ancient; Being as old as Zhongli is there are many things that he has done and seen in his lifetime, but with this age comes the harboring of many regrets and past mistakes. He has lost good friends and colleagues throughout the Archon war. It is both a blessing and a curse for the Archon as it comes with a set mindset, such as being particular towards many things like finery, going to plays, even food, and of course more. But it also comes with loneliness that not many know how to even comprehend. His talk of Guizhong for example infers that they were good friends and the seat placements at the Cloud Retainers table suggest such as well. Zhongli is old and he is also a very lonely individual which might be one of the many reasons why he decided to give up his role as Liyue’s god and protector.
The other major reason for Zhongli relinquishing his position is that he has seen Liyue’s transformation as well as aid in its growth. Even for gods time does not stop or standstill and Zhongli, in particular, sees this through the fact that Liyue has almost outgrown him in a way. No longer is it the time of Adepti or Archons and as such humans thrive even without his counsel. The fact that Liyue was able to protect and ensure its own survival after Osial’s attack further exemplified that Zhongli’s position was no longer necessary. He has seen the world change and knew that this day would come, his acceptance of it was only facilitated when Osial was stopped without him. But Zhongli has come to accept this and isn’t angry about it in the least. After all, he is now free to roam the world as he pleases, knowing with good conscience and faith that Liyue will be safe without him.
Under pressure:
Given Zhongli’s current canon point his motivations will be somewhat the same. As a god who has ruled over his people for thousands of years, he might find the fact that this new god within the setting being feared is something to investigate if not be cautious about. Given how dedicated and supportive of Liyue he was gods that instill fear or those that run away he often tends to not think highly of them. Zhongli being a god himself will undoubtedly try to learn and find out as much as he can about Noctium’s so-called god.
In terms of the setting Zhongli will probably fit in rather easily, given how used to wandering Liyue he already is. His disposition as Zhongli is warmer and kinder than his Morax visage and after all, he is retired now, so a little R&R won’t hurt! It might even encourage him to try newer things since he’s now free to wander the world as he chooses even if the world is an entirely new one. Technology is not used in Teyvat so getting used to it will be a challenge and having to save up money as an actual human being will also come with an interesting prospect as well. In general, Zhongli will not be too bother about the current situation in-game and he will more than likely get along fine with the people within the setting, being the Geo Archon his knowledge and working of rocks is an added benefit when it comes to society literally filled with gem-people.
Condition upon arrival:
Perfectly fine! Although will be without his Gnosis and therefore slightly weaker than he normally would be.
Abilities:
Even without a Gnosis Zhongli is a force to be reckoned with! Being the Geo Archon and one of the Adepti, all his powers are earth based and mainly are support typed powers. It is also shown that Archon’s like Zhongli can change their appearance at will. His one other canon appearance is that of a dragon, in all his forms however his eyes remain the same amber hue. Like many gods in other media, he has some general abilities such as: self-healing though he can be killed if the hit is a deadly one, ability to teleport short distances, telekinesis, being extremely durable as he states that his body is not that of normal people, and suppression of his presence.
Being the prime Archon and an Adepti, he possesses a great working knowledge of the three secret arts: Alchemy, Sigils and Sub-Space Creation. Within the game itself Alchemy is used to make various elixirs which grant weapons powers. Alchemy, however, requires specific items and materials to fashion things from. The use of sigils allows Adepti to store their powers in the form of symbols and with sub-space creation they can create a cosmic separate dimensional paradise with their minds. In Noctium the sub-space creation will drain him of manna rather quickly so he can only use it sparingly and it will last only a couple of hours at most.
Zhongli’s in game abilities revolve around rock/geo statuses. He is also an expert in polearms (as it is his weapon of choice in game) but he’s likely to be proficient is all manner of weaponry given his age and experience. His in-game abilities are as followed:
Dominus Lapidis: Basically this erects a geo pillar from the ground which deals continuous geo damage to anything in its field – for in-game writing purposes we will say the field is around 10 feet. Dominus Lapidis has another form which is called shield of jade which as the name suggests is a shield for continuous blocking of damage. The amount of manna he has will dictate how long both things remain up and how powerful they are.
Planet Befall: Aka meteor. Zhongli basically summons a meteor from the sky and upon impact it encases enemies in stone for around 3 seconds.
On top of these abilities, Zhongli can move, control, and manipulate metals and rocks something akin to Earthbending. As it was stated that he literally remade the entirety of Liyue’s landscape and the huge pillars of rock jutting out of the sea around Liyue were supposedly his doing during the Archon War.
In terms of nerfing using any of these abilities in game will result in a loss of Manna which will leave Zhongli tired and in need of rest.
Inventory:
His spear Vortex Vanquisher
Some spare Mora
Gembond: Emerald
Gem Location: Just a little below his throat where the diamond like jewel is here.
